Cheliz Restaurant is a family-owned and operated dining venue in Southeastern California. In fact, Cheliz is the name my youngest child used to call me with when he was young and unable to pronounce my name accurately. We opened our doors in November 2016 and very quickly became popular in Redlands and its surrounding community because of the family atmosphere, delicious food, and welcoming service in our restaurant. Rave reviews followed and continued highlighting our excellent variety of menu selections at affordable prices.

Tragedy, unfortunately, struck our close-knit family. My wife, with whom I started this culinary adventure, succumbed to a Covid-19 infection and left us in the prime of her life. I contemplated quitting the restaurant business and counting my losses. Fortunately, that was not to be. Spurred on by my children, sibblings, and in-laws, who stood with us during the good and the bad, I decided to keep the restaurant open. Keeping the restaurant open will not only carry on the legacy we’ve built over the years, but it will also honor the memory and legacy of my wife. And here we are today, armed with our commitment, strength, desires, and love for our work.

Although Cheliz is mainly an American-style food restaurant, it offers a wide range of other delicious dishes. If you are not yet a customer, we invite you to visit us and try it yourself. You will feel welcome.
